Piano Lessons - Clarksville, IN
Owner/Operator: Lynette OutleraPhone: 502-693-9431
I have a BS in Music Education and MS in Elementary ED. I taught music in public schools for 8 years before starting my family. I have taught private piano for 28 years in northern Indiana, NW Illinois and 16 of those years here in the Kentuckiana area. I have taught all ages - from 3 years to older adult. I have home schooled my own children and have taught home schooled children over the years.
I teach in my home in Clarksville, IN. I would be happy to talk to anyone who would be interested in taking piano lessons. I teach mostly traditionally, but have incorporated some Suzuki techniques for very young children. I have used various method books over the years, but most recently have used Faber and Faber Piano Adventures. I incorporate theory and ear training, along with the basic fundamentals of piano playing. I encourage the students to use their music in various avenues, especially in their local church or areas of ministry if they have those opportunities. There will be a yearly recital.
Please feel free to email me or call if I can assist you at all in the area of piano education.
Piano Lessons - LaGrange or Clifton/Germantown
Owner/Operator: Rebecca Bales ElliottPhone: 502-424-8510
I am offering piano lessons on Monday afternoons, Thursday mornings, and Friday mornings currently. Hopefully by the spring,
I will have Tuesday and Friday afternoons available as well. At that time, I will most likely be based out of the Clifton or Germantown area. On Mondays, I will be teaching out at my parents' home in LaGrange.
I studied under Bruce Boiney for over 10 years (from June '93-August '04), and have been taking lessons from John Bizianes (of Bizianes Music Mart on Bardstown Rd.) for over a year now. I have been classically trained, I have been writing and composing my own music for 4-5 years, and I am currently branching out into more of a jazz improv style to expand my own range of abilities.
I taught for three years previously (fall '03 to spring '06). My students have been anywhere from the ages of 5-15, and I also taught the grandmother of one of my younger students (they came to lessons together).
I teach from a Suzuki background, working on laying a foundation of technique, playing by ear and musicality. Within the first year or very soon into the second, music theory and reading music are added into the mix. At that point, depending on the student and particular musical bent, I love to explore the possibilities of styles other than classical, and also teaching how to create, using the things they have been learning. I am very much interested in unlocking the creative process with each student so that they are not simply learning how to mimic, but learning how to create.
My rates are as follows:
- Up to thirty minutes of lesson time per week - $1,020.00 yearly tuition, paid in 12 installments of $85.00.
- If there are multiple students in the family, the first two children are full tuition, and any child after that will be given a discounted tuition of $900 yearly, paid in 12 installments of $75.
The lesson schedule during the summer is more flexible than during the school year. At the beginning of the summer, students notify the teacher of their vacation plans and lessons that will be missed can typically be rescheduled to a different week. Families who will be gone for extended periods in the summer should give more advanced notice so that adequate plans can be made. Tuition is always due for the full studio year.
Lessons missed by the teacher will be made up. Lessons missed by the student during the school year are not usually able to be made up.
If you are interested, please contact me for more information, available times, references/resume, or any other questions you may have.
Violin Lessons

Location:Hurstbourne Baptist Church

Background - I have played the violin for 9 years, including one year of teaching private lessons. I also taught in an after school strings program that the Mobile Symphony sponsored during my senior year in high school. I was homeschooled 5th through 12th grade, so I am extremely familiar with the homeschooling community and what homeschoolers need. As far as my philosophy of music goes, I believe that music was made by God for us to enjoy as well as to worship him. My hope is to show my students how to truly enjoy playing the violin so that they will be able to use it in their churches, homes and communities.
Prices
- 30 minutes - $15.00
- 45 minutes - $20.00
- 1 hour - $25.00
(I would be willing to split lesson times between siblings, especially if there are two young children. So, in a 45 minute lesson, each child would get a little over 20 minutes.)
