Hola!
My name is Melodie Hills, and I am interested in offering classes or private tutoring in Spanish for homeschoolers. I am currently a senior at the University of Louisville majoring in Spanish. In December I plan to graduate and pursue my masters in Spanish education. This past month I returned from a year study abroad program in Santander, Spain, where I studied history, language teaching, Spanish linguistics, and phonetics. Prior to this trip I participated in a number of long term and short term mission trips to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Ecuador.
Starting in September, if there is sufficient interest shown, I will be available to give group classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays . Through my study abroad experience I have learned that language learning works best when spoken and practiced often. A small group meeting regularly would allow students the chance to interact and practice their language skills, plus the individual attention and instruction language learning requires. In most universities language classes are smaller. I have been in classes anywhere from 3 to 25 students, and these classes met several times a week.
I have a love for the Spanish language and helping people communicate. Through my time in other countries I have learned much about the Latin American Culture and Spanish culture, and I look forward to incorporating different culture aspects into the students learning experience. I know I was not truly invested in learning Spanish until I had a taste of the culture that the language brings with it.
