HFHG Spring Celebration of Fine Arts!

Friday, April 23rd 2010

6pm to 9:30pm

6pm-6:30pm – All artwork submitted and displayed.
6:30pm-7pm – Browse through student Art Gallery. Judging.
7pm-7:45pm – Elementary students perform.
7:45pm-8:30pm – Middle and Highschool students perform.
8:30pm-9:15 – Browse art gallery. Ribbons awarded.
9:15pm-9:30pm – Students may take art pieces home. Clean-up.

This event is free for HFHG members.  There is a $4 entry fee per student for each non-member family.  Students can, but do not have to participate in both events.

Music Recital/Drama Participants:

We will have 18 5-minute time slots available.  Each student can only participate in ONE performance.  Sign-ups will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

Both solo and group performances are acceptable, as well as instrumental, voice, or dramatic performance.

This Year’s Theme: Faithfulness

Students are encouraged to consider the theme while creating their art and judges will be encouraged to consider the theme while judging. 

Age Divisions:

There will be three age divisions:  Grades K-3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7 and up

Categories:

Students may enter once in each of the following categories.

Copy The Masters – Paint, Pastel, or Charcoal.  For this category, students must choose a famous work of art to recreate.  Artwork will be judged on how closely the student’s work resembles the original piece.  Level of difficulty will also be considered.  **Please note: A copy of the original work must be presented with the student’s art or the entry will be disqualified from the competition.  A computer print out is suitable.

Bible Illustration – Paint, Pastel, or Charcoal.  Students will choose a biblical event and illustrate it.  Artwork must be the student’s original and may not be copied from another artist.

Computer Graphics – Using computer graphics, create artwork.  Computer Graphic Artwork can include, but is not limited to: photographs, text, and computer drawn images.

3-D Art – Sculpture can be made in any 3-D medium including clay or collage.

“Faithfulness” (Any Medium) – Create an art piece in any medium that best represents this year’s theme of ‘Faithfulness’.

 

All artwork will need to be matted with cardstock or foamboard and a label will need to be affixed to the front of the mat with name, grade, age, and name of artwork (optional).
