Classical Conversations
Grades K-6
We exist to empower parents in the academic teaching of their children through Parent Practicums; as well as establish and support Classical Christian Communities that enable parents to equip their children with (1) a Biblically-based world view and (2) the classical "tools of learning", in order to impact the world for God's glory.
FOUNDATIONS PROGRAM
Families attend weekly classes led by a trained tutor. A parent must attend and is welcome to bring her preschool children.
Our Goals:
- To provide foundational instruction for K-6th graders to enable them to know God and make Him known
- To participate in a rigorous memorization program capitalizing on the young child's ability to absorb facts
- To instill a comprehensive understanding of Providence by mastering a timeline of significant historical events
- To teach students to draw and label continents from memory
- To develop a strong science vocabulary, to participate in science projects, and to teach the scientific method
- To help students develop oral and written presentation skills
- To model for students a respect for God's Word, the USA and one another
- To memorize the major grammar rules of the English language
- To demonstrate how to learn Latin
- To master common math tables, conversions, squares, and cubes
- To encourage parents to form friendships and provide accountability for educational excellence
Challenge A Program (New for 2008!!)
Our Challenge A program provides Classical Christian community for home school families with students in or around grade 7. The Challenge Programs typically meet once a week for fifteen weeks in the fall and fifteen weeks in the winter/spring months.
Based on the Classical Model of education, students at this age move into the dialectic and rhetoric phases of learning. Students utilize our academically challenging curriculum, which is appropriately named the Challenge Curriculum. This curriculum involves Saxon Math, Apologia sciences, classic literature, writing reports, debates, and much more. Student develop and strengthen the life-long learning skills of grammar, exposition, debate, logic, rhetoric, and research. This curriculum is supplemented by weekly classroom time with a trained Challenge Director/Tutor. Visit our catalog to view resources used and or contact our Challenge Director for more information.
